Is a Mediterranean Diet Healthy?

Current conventional thinking says yes! A diet low in fat, olive oil used for cooking, lots of pasta and no burgers or fried food equals healthy living. If this is so, then you would expect that the people living around the Mediterranean Sea live longer than those in burger loving nations. The table below gives life expectancy figures for the mediterranean countries and some major non mediterranean countries. I hope you find the results interesting. Draw your own conclusions! The figures were compiled from the 2002 edition of Whitaker's Almanack.
